Heritage
In 1999 The Inchcolm was transformed from heritage listed medical chambers on Brisbane’s answer to London’s Harley Street, Wickham Terrace. The hotel comprises of the renovated original Inchcolm building and a new extension that provides a variety of contemporary suites while remaining sympathetic to the existing style. Thirty-five rooms including suites, deluxe suites and one and two bedroom executive suites boasts an abundance of timber louvers, hand-carved fretwork and large picture windows. In refurbishing the building, many of the original features were kept including the magnificent silky oak wall panelling and doors, the original brass fittings and the 1920s New York style cage lift which still services the hotel today.
An individual touch at Quality Hotel The Inchcolm is that the suites are identified not by number but by name. Suites are named after significant people or places of interest in Queensland history including for example, Burnett, Gympie, Ashdown and Lockyer.
Reviews
Part of the Choice Hotel Group, Quality Hotel The Inchcolm was awarded Australia’s Best Property and Best Heritage Hotel in the 1999-2000 Choice Excellence Awards. Guests who frequent the hotel are charmed by the suites’ home away from home quality, the warm personalised touches of its professional staff, and convenient features including its cityscape rooftop pool, central location and Seasalt at Armstrongs Restaurant.
While your average hotel guest may frequently find themselves culinarily marooned with mini bar crisps, the Inchcolm’s guests bliss out on room service from Seasalt at Armstrongs. This is arguably Brisbane’s best restaurant, located on the ground floor past the lobby. Awarded as the People’s Choice - Best New Restaurant in 1999 by the Restaurant and Caterers Association of Queensland, Seasalt at Armstrongs has been described by Vogue Entertaining as offering an “innovative and exciting dining experience with an unpretentious, relaxed and friendly ambience”.
